I have been using Turbo Tax for 10 years now. It is convenient because you can e-file everything and then even go back and e-amend a return if something comes up. BUT, you do need to know a little about preparing your taxes and how to manually edit a form. Their Wizard makes mistakes and can’t always access the line item you need. Also, if there is a filing error, Turbo Tax’s excuse is that it happened because of the “the way I entered my info.” BTW, on that one, I had simply followed their step-by-step prompts. Lesson- learned: I now take a more active role in the process. For the most part, it is a good program though.The software was easy to follow. Just be sure to scroll down to the end of each screen. I missed one entry and had to use "help" to find where to enter the amount. I bought the federal and state version believing I could efile both forms. I efiled my federal for free but for the state return, they wanted a $20 fee which I was not going to pay. I just printed my state return and filed it manually with my state revenue department. My state offers a system where you basically do the data entry for them with the information from your completed return.
